Consistency is Key!

This whole weight loss thing can be daunting but as long as you remember ONE THING you will be successful ... Okay really 2 things but the most important thing is this; Consistency is key!

When you begin a weight loss journey you are undertaking one of the best things you can do for yourself. Your health is paramount to anything else and your body is your temple. I know it sounds cliche but it's true. You get out of it what you put into it.

Obesity is on the rise and childhood obesity is at epidemic proportions. Children learn from their parent so what better way to curb that issue then by getting into shape yourself. The numbers are alarming; 23.9 MILLION children between the ages of 2 to 19 are overweight or obese. Of this amount 12.7 are categorically obese.

Obesity in adults is even more alarming; Among Americans ages 20 and Older 154.7 million are overweight or obese and of that number 78.4 million are clinically obese.

These figures are taken from the American Heart Association and are based on 2013 numbers.

Back to the point: Consistency

Any exercise program and nutrition program (NOT DIET) take time and effort. You cannot expect overnight results. Remember, it didn't take you a day, a week, 2 weeks to gain the weight, it's not going to be that fast coming off (and this would be the second thing to remember).

If you are working a program, stick with it. Do modified moves if necessary but just MOVE. If you have a heart rate monitor, use it. If you don't I STRONGLY SUGGEST you buy one. It will help you monitor your food intake. Track your food. Eat clean (or as clean as possible). If you are working hard on your body and do not see results ask yourself; What am I eating, how often am I eating, am I eating McDonalds 3x a day. If you find that you are not losing weight are you eating enough?

Take pictures and measurements. The scale is not an accurate measure of progress. If you are addicted to your scale, hide it. Weigh in no more then once a week and always do it first thing in the morning after your bathroom visit and naked!
