What being a "Coach" Means to me ...
As you know, I recently joined the Team Beachbody Coaching Program ... but being a coach to me is much more then just "making money" off of you or "getting the discounts for being a coach". Being a coach means changing lives ... and that's what I am setting out to do. This is a long one but worth it ;)
When I started this fitness journey, I was 41 lbs over weight, extremely depressed and really unsure that I would ever fit into a Size 8 (let alone the Size 6) jean again. I had a bunch of super expensive custom pieces of latex that I didn't want to wear because I looked like a tire wearing them with all the rolls I had. I became a recluse and didn't want to go outside. This was mainly triggered by a bad relationship that ended violently.
During this entire time I had a personal trainer. I went to the gym 5 days a week and didn't lose weight. I didn't get stronger, I saw NO CHANGES. I don't entirely blame my trainer because I made bad choices as to what I was eating and drinking but what I do wish he would have done is sit me down and really go over nutrition with me.
So one day in September of 2010 I decided to weigh myself. I was scared. I hated scales because I knew that if I saw the number on the scale it would mean it was true. I was out of shape. I was fat. I mustered up the courage and got on that scale and JUMPED OFF when I saw 181lbs ... I didn't want ANYONE ELSE to see it too. That night I went home, drank a 1/2 a bottle of vodka and wallowed in my sorrows.
The next day I decided to make a change. I am vain and 181 lbs was NOT OKAY. So I signed up to My Fitness Pal (karenborter) and began to track my food. I began to hike every day. I got a heart rate monitor because I had been reading about how MFP works on a calorie deficit program and it was important to eat back most (if not all) of your exercise calories to lose weight (more on that later). I wanted to do more so when I hit a 20lb loss (go me!) I saw a post on the forum at MFP by my (now) friend and saw an amazing transformation doing P90X (instert personal link here) and figured that this was a "real" person with "real" results so I decided to give it a go.
I had NO IDEA what a Beachbody Coach was at that time, or that I even had one. People were approaching me like crazy ... do you want a coach? Do you have a coach? Do you need to change coaches? DO YOU WANT TO BE A COACH? WTF ... BE a coach? I hadn't even done 1 day of a 90 day program how could I BE a coach?
Fast forward to now. I know the products. I believe in the products. I am living proof that the products work and I am PASSIONATE about the products and helping people get into the "best shape of their lives". It just takes that first step to a better you. Are you tired of being tired? Are you sick of being sick? Are those back and knee aches taking their toll? Did you know that most (not all) back and knee pain is due to being overweight and/or the result of a weak core?
I use Shakeology as my breakfast EVERY DAY, I do workouts like P90X, Insanity The Asylum; Volumes 1 and 2 and, most recently Focus T25. I use these products because they WORK. I continue to use these products because I know they work IF I WORK THEM. I want to turn YOU on to these great products and take them out of the stigma of the "infomercial" world into the REAL WORLD.
Will you sweat? You are damn right you will. Will you be sore, sure (but that's what P90X® Results and Recovery is for). Will you be able to fit into those jeans and that dress you've been dying to wear again but it's just a little too tight? I THINK YOU WILL IF DECIDE TO COMMIT TO SUCCEED!
